Gaurav Mishra, MD, MBA

National Director of Behavioral Health

 

Gaurav Mishra MD MBA is a board-certified Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist and the National Director of Behavioral Health for Wellness and Equity Alliance. He is also the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at San Ysidro Health, a large FQHC in San Diego, CA. He also works with medical students and residents as a Voluntary Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego and Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at A.T. Still University of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona. Dr. Mishra is the ethics committee chair for the San Diego Psychiatric Society. Dr. Mishra has been an advisor at Existential technologies, a healthcare startup working on innovative solutions for sleep disorders, since 2018.

Dr. Mishra is a systems thinker and has successfully implemented SAMHSA projects creating a continuum of services between primary care, behavioral health, and substance use disorder care. In 2021, in coordination with several State and Federal agencies, Dr. Mishra had experience organizing and implementing a mental health services program serving over 3,000 unaccompanied minors at the San Diego Convention Center through a federal grant from the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Through his work with medical students and family medicine residents, Dr. Mishra has developed a training pathway where the next generation of Primary Care Physicians coming into the San Diego community will have a robust understanding of mental illness diagnoses and treatments, further expanding access to care for this chronically underserved population.
