Dr. Lisa Fitzpatrick is a physician entrepreneur, infectious disease specialist, and medical epidemiologist with a distinctive blend of clinical, public health, and leadership expertise. She is the founder of Grapevine Health, a digital health education company focused on improving health outcomes through accessible, community-centered communication.
With deep experience across healthcare systems—including service as a state Medicaid Chief Medical Officer—Dr. Fitzpatrick is recognized as a strategic healthcare leader who understands medicine, delivery systems, public health, data, and people. Her work is grounded in listening to patients and communities about their experiences and the systemic barriers they face. These insights inform her approach to health policy, intervention design, and systems-level change.
Dr. Fitzpatrick's public health journey began as an Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, where she went on to serve as a global public health diplomat. Her career spans public and private sectors, nonprofit leadership, and board service. Her research and interests include digital health innovation, health communication, and health literacy as key drivers of cost reduction and patient engagement.
She is a passionate advocate for bridging the gap between the scientific community and the public, and serves as a member of the National Academy of Sciences Roundtable on Health Literacy. With a global and diverse background, she is a sought-after speaker on topics such as healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship, health system transformation, data-informed process improvement, policy, community engagement, clinical trial inclusion, and leadership.
A former nonprofit founder and CEO, Dr. Fitzpatrick continues to serve on nonprofit and private company boards, bringing strategic insight and decades of cross-sector experience to her roles.
