Antonella Sturniolo, MPH

Project Manager

Antonella Sturniolo, MPH currently serves as the CEO and President of Upsilon Healthcare Technology. It has been Antonella’s passion to develop the Upsilon IUD, a unique intrauterine device that contains neither hormones nor copper. This new device is based on a historical IUD invented by her Grandfather, an Ob/GYN, and used globally by thousands of women until his death in 1982 and the collapse of the IUD market during the mid-1980s. Antonella has devoted years researching women’s reproductive healthcare, technology, and marketplace, and intends to provide innovative, accessible, and affordable contraceptive solutions, especially in lower socioeconomic regions of the world.

Antonella has international experience as the Director of Programs and Family Planning for DKT International, a leading NGO and one of the largest private providers that deliver affordable sexual and reproductive health (SRH) solutions in some of the world’s most complex humanitarian settings and operating environments. She has also worked for the Bloomberg American Health Initiative which aims to tackle five issues that deeply challenge our nation’s health: addiction and overdose, adolescent health, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, and violence. Prior to this, Antonella worked for the United Nations Department of Global Communications researching the impact of COVID-19 and solutions to issues such as proper sanitation, nutrition, education, and healthcare in nations heavily impacted by the pandemic. She is also on the board of Miracle of Help, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit developing a maternal-child health post in Sierra Leone.

Antonella received a Master of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health focused on Women’s and Reproductive Health, Health Systems and Policy, and Health Leadership and Management. She received her BA from the University of Pennsylvania in Philosophy, Politics, Economics (PPE), and Music. She is also a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
